30 Twitter Influencers You Have to Follow for AI/Machine Learning

My name is Roger, and as part of our work developing the first online course to offer a machine learning job guarantee, I’ve compiled this list of Twitter influencers that would be helpful to follow for research and learning purposes.

1. Kai-Fu Lee

The former president of Google China, Kai-Fu Lee has a lot of insight into the development of artificial intelligence in both China and the United States, the two booming superpowers in AI.

2. Google AI

The developers of everything from DeepMind and much more: you’ll be able to get the latest AI news from Google.

3. Andrew Ng

Andrew is known for creating pioneering AI and machine learning courses, such as deeplearning.ai. As a Stanford University professor in machine learning, he co-founded Coursera, a platform for massive online courses, many of them focused on AI and machine learning.

4. OpenAI

OpenAI collaborates with the world’s leading AI researchers and takes on fellows who work on cutting-edge AI applications. It’s a must-follow if you want to stay on top of the latest and greatest in machine learning research.

5. Jess Hamrick

Jess is a research scientist at Google’s DeepMind division and often tweets about advanced machine learning research algorithms.

6. Jason Brownlee

The curator of Machine Learning Mastery, Jason has tons of free posts and resources dedicated to upskilling software engineers with machine learning knowledge they can apply.

7. Lisha Li

Lisha was a Ph.D. in statistics at Berkeley focused on machine learning who decided to found her own stealth AI startup. She is followed by many Silicon Valley heavyweights and tweets about the latest advances and papers in the field.

8. Andreas Mueller

Andreas helped develop the scikit-learn framework that is popular in Python as a way to implement common machine learning algorithms.

9. Sebastian Raschka

Sebastian is the writer of a book on machine learning practices in Python. As an assistant professor of statistics at the University of Wisconson-Madison, he often shares a lot of interesting tweets about machine learning practice and theory.

10. Ines Montani

Ines is a front-end developer specializing in web applications for AI. She co-founded Explosion AI, the maker of spaCy, an open-source library for advanced NLP in Python.

11. Peter Skomoroch

Peter was the early data lead at LinkedIn and an entrepreneur-in-residence at Accel Ventures. He’ll often retweet or post insights about machine learning.

12. Ryan Rosario

Ryan is a Springboard mentor on data science and, interspersed with personal tweets, he will often share practical data engineering insights and news.

13. Kriti Sharma

Kriti is a young leader on the topic of AI and ethics, an increasingly relevant and important intersection.

14. Ramesh Sampath

A machine learning engineer with deep background in different ventures, Sampath will often post tutorials and machine learning papers.

15. Hilary Mason

Hilary works as the general manager for machine learning at Cloudera and she will often retweet and share original posts on machine learning theory. She has recently embarked on writing a series on data and ethics.

16. Michael Galvin

Michael is the executive director of data science at Metis, an educational resource and workshop for aspiring data scientists. He’ll often post educational resources in the space.

17. Abigail Jacobs

Abigail is a postdoc at Berkeley focused on how computers, social justice, and governance intersect.

18. Yisong Yue

Yisong is a machine learning professor at Caltech who will often share cutting-edge research papers in machine learning as well as more general topics, including how society and ethics mix with machine learning. He’ll post about advanced technical topics, but is worth the follow even if you’re a beginner in the field.

19. KDnuggets

KDnuggets is a media source dedicated to data science, but it contains plenty of machine learning and deep learning resources — everything from a job board to tutorials to curated lists of resources.

20. Kirk Borne

Kirk is the principal data scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton and a speaker on data topics. He will often post breaking machine learning news and has accumulated hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers as a result.

21. John Keefe

John works at Quartz in bots and machine learning, and tweets about the convergence of machine learning and journalism from a perspective that is less technical than some of the other Twitter accounts on this list.

22. Caroline Sinders

Caroline is a machine learning designer who sits at the intersection between machine learning and art. She is a senior fellow at Mozilla.

23. Oriol Vinyals

As a research scientist at Google DeepMind, Oriol doesn’t post regularly on Twitter, but when he does, it’s often to surface an insightful paper, fact, or visualization that will help his followers learn more about machine learning.

24. Justin Herman

Justin is a veteran who posts often about machine learning and the adoption of machine learning by the federal government.

25. Suchana Seth

Suchana is a data scientist who also works as an open web fellow with the Mozilla Foundation. She’ll often tweet about technological advances as well as the social context in which they’re made.

26. Max Sklar

An engineer at Foursquare, Max hosts a podcast that deals with statistical concepts and regularly works in machine learning concepts as well.

27. Kendall Dabaghi

Kendall writes about the combination of biology and machine learning, an interesting topic at a time when both fields are converging.

28. Charlie Oliver

Charlie is a strategist who writes frequently about AI and machine learning issues in their greater context. Keep up to date with her thoughts and whitepapers by following her Twitter.

29. Tyler Neylon

Tyler is a machine learning engineer who often pours into the details about the programming frameworks and skills required to do machine learning at scale.

30. Hanna Wallach

Hanna is a machine learning engineer who focuses on the intersection of social science and machine learning.
